At Vivek-Uday...

At present, we are assisting students both financially and academically. The boys are doing their graduation in different colleges under Calcutta and West Bengal State University while staying here. We provide books and tuitions for the students as per their needs.We have arranged for a separate monthly scholarship for girls from 2014 .

Bridge the Gap

We believe there is a gaping hole between education and the prospects of education. The uniqueness of knowledge gathered in the under-‐‑graduate level is lost soon, leaving the education as a petty collection of curriculum and semesters and students soon lose the objectivity. To enliven this tryst with textbooks, we arrange for special talks by professors and research scholars in various fields. In these friendly exchanges, students come to know the scope and prospects awaiting them. Above all, in these hours they can learn a lot of things about their subjects from a new perspective and can clarify many fundamental conceptual doubts they are having while proceeding through their syllabus. The other way around is that research scholars sometimes rediscover the magic of their subjects while handling the dicey queries of the inquisitive students. We talk over on the lives and teachings of great souls to draw inspiration among the students. It is to try and inculcate a realistic sense of life and values in the boys to become a good citizen.

Vivek Uday Library

Vivek-Uday has a in house library with a commendable collection of books (both text books and story books). The Society try to cover the text books as well as reference books as per requirements of the existing Hons. Students and effectively it includes most of the subjects in science and arts stream. A library is maintained for the students. Right now, the library contains almost 500 books including text books. Apart from text books, our library can boast of a variety of story books that provide food for thought to name a few: A Brief History of Time, Rabindra Rachanabali, Galpoguchho, Sarat Samagro, Sukanta samagra, Bankim samagra, Sukumar smagra, Aloukik noi loukik, Lila prasango, Karmojyog, Gita, Vivekananda'ʹs Patrabali, Sri Ramkrishna ke je rupe dekhiyachi, Swami Shishyo Sangbad etc.

Wall Magazines

Students and members of publish wall magazines on different occasions. This is one of the many cultural activities of Vivek-Uday.

Excursion

Once in a year we take the students on an outing for a refreshment of both the physical and mental health. Last year we ventured into the woods of Metala, a place in Bankura. The society also arranges an educational tour for our students once in three years with a better scope and opportunity to expand ourselves on the lap of nature. Recently, our students went to Sillary Gaon, Ichhe Gaon, Bidyang, Arital where they were blessed with the tranquil and serene atmosphere of Kalimpong and Sikkim.
